Good evening bloggers, today I want to provide a mood-board for our upcoming final project: "Offsides," a sports comedy about a teen who struggles to find the balance between what he believes he could be and the reality of his football career, that being in the trash. My mood board utilizes the emotions of both excitement and sadness through the lighting and actions that are featured in each picture. Starting off, the bathroom image is utilized to convey the beginning of the film opener, including angles of the protagonist getting ready to play on the field, providing facial expressions of anxiety, which the lighting of the scene will reflect on his face. There are two images of a football field that includes one in high-key lighting, while the other is lower-key. The brighter image will be used for the dream sequence of the scene, whilst the darker one is to show what really transpired in the plot, where the protagonist gets trampled by the opponents.
Additionally, the color themes implemented into my mood board consist of blue, red, and green. Blue and red are the colors of the football teams that will appear in our opening, where the protagonist is a part of the blue team, while red is the opposing side. Green’s main use is in the setting, which is on a field full of grass. Lastly, the energy of the mood-board can be traced through the actions of the football players in the images, where some are making plays, passing the ball, tackling, or even celebrating their touchdown. In addition to this, the loss of the game can be found in the players sulking on the ground of the field. A very important aspect to the positivity of the dream sequence can be found in the way the powderpuff cheerleaders add excitement towards the touchdown that the protagonist scores. All in all, this mood-board properly conveys the emotions and type of genre this film is going for, a sports comedy.
