Brainstorming

Our goal for this project is to increase the quality of work that my partner, Davin, and I have been able to produce with our sound project. Feedback on our video inspired us to work harder this time, to knock the socks off our fellow peers. As a result, we would need to utilize both our photography skills, editing, and directing all in one in order to pull off this great feat. Before that, ideas of a plot for our opening scene would need to be created.

We began with integrating a type of genre that our scene would be presented as. There are various we considered, such as a drama, musical, horror, and comedy, which we choose the latter. Comedy would be a great point to start, mostly because Davin and I are not the best of actors, although our directing skill may very well be on par with Steven Spielberg. Comedy stands above the rest, because of how the genre can be approached, be it a satire or simple jokes. Compared to a horror movie, we would not have to bring out our serious side as much, which we rather leave to others.

Next, we began to think about what this plot should be about, centering around what type of movie we are opening on. The good news was that Davin and I were pretty much on the same page on what the movie would revolve around, football. It is no secret that Davin is a massive football fan, which I believed would allow him to feel much interest on this project, and his interest is mine as well. A football comedy based on a player who continues to fail horribly during his games would suffice for our project, but how big should we go?

There are many options and budgeting that would have to go into our opening scene, but that counts on what type of scenario would play out in the film. We initially decide on a full scale football game, where we include extras to play as two opposing football teams, as well as include some cheerleaders. The downside to such a feat would expose the weak-spot in this plan, which is timing on when we can gather such a cast together at a nearby football field on a random Saturday. Additionally, the thought of having to pay for everybody's uniforms proved expensive and too great for a short film like this. Thus, we have to put that idea at the back of our heads.

Currently, our objective is to simplify that plan we thought of, but the positive side of things is that we have a large cast of characters ready to perform when we need them, but the timing window would still be an issue. If all else fails, the solution would be to film at school or at our own houses, but that is merely a last resort.
